New York Day 2 Ch.12

• The next few reels he plays through quickly.
• Setting up the room with fuel for the night and food.
• Barricading.
• Small talk, barely any chatter.
• Logan decides to put Amanda's diary back into her room in her suitcase.
○ "It feels right."
• Then waiting.
• Lots and lots of silence.
• Then they begin talking.
• Logan says that 'you're not like Amanda'
○ "What's that meant to mean?"
○ You're not making me happy.
○ You're not making any sense.
○ Amanda gave me happiness.  You're not giving me anything.
• Kathryn explains that all she's ever wanted is to help her friends.
○ Am I your friend?
○ Silence.
○ I don't know.
• Amanda tells Logan that he's wrong for taking advantage of Amanda like that.
• Logan explains his past with Amanda and his obsession with her.
• Logan explains that he wanted to be liked but Amanda was the only one he could be around, everyone else shunned him.
• He never just had Amanda to himself.
• Then Amanda met Dustin.
• Amanda was always around Dustin, which meant that he was always side-lined.
• Tells Kathryn that Amanda was really hurt by what she did with Dustin.
• Silence.
• "It's not like that."
• Kathryn explains Dustin's obsession with her.
• She knew what he was like and his sheltered history.
• Explains Dustin's desire to explore and tear open the boundaries that had always existed for him.
• She only ever wanted to help her friends, but Dustin's insistence and her insecurities led her to be unable to say no.
○ She feared being taken advantage of by her friends, so she convinced herself that she wanted this and that he was doing it all for her and so it was consensual and there was no advantage to be taken.
• Explains Dustin took her to the place in the woods.
• Explains, amusingly, how wrong it went with bushes and insects and getting burned on the light as they tried to pull it closer to see each other better.
• Explains that at the last moment she couldn't go through with it and turned away from Dustin.
• They never did anything that night.
• But bad seeds were planted.
• Kathryn's emotions tanked and she had no one to turn to.
• Amanda never forgave Kathryn and couldn't bring herself to leave Dustin.
• Logan saw his opportunity to have Amanda all for his own and finally be liked and so pushed Amanda to keep Kathryn away.
• Kathryn could never bring herself to explain herself to her friend and was shattered by Amanda's refusal to make amends.
• She desperately wanted her friend to talk to and get advice from, but the one time she really needed to be helped she was continuously refused.
• Now both Amanda and Dustin are gone.
• On the tape they hear storm clouds sounding, the first storm in weeks and it's going to be a big one.
• The front façade of the house collapses partially.
• They shout at the main char to leave, he refused, going to get another reel.
• Eli and the others start pushing their way in through the front of the house to get to the main character.
